Ancient
Prison of Ming Dynasty
Hongtong County, situated to the north of Linfen city became popular when it was used as
the setting for a popular Peking Opera depicting the romance of Su San, A Ming-dynasty
woman who was wronged and persecuted. Today, visitors can enter the well-preserved prison
where the heroine was incarcerated. On entering the prison one stands in awe, the high
walls and sturdily locked doors unmistakably indicate that there could be on escape. The
most terrible scene is the brutal image of "Bigan", a legendary beast, mounted
on top of that era.
